Matthew McConaughey looks back on his Jennifer Lopez era

Matthew McConaughey revealed that Jennifer Lopez once helped him get out of a difficult situation with Mexican police.

The actor shared the surprising story while speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, revealing that the incident happened when he was driving across the Mexican border late at night.

McConaughey shared that the officers stopped him after noticing him in his truck. He quickly realised that the situation can get serious problem and expected to lose some money.

Things changed when he mentioned Lopez, his former co star from The Wedding Planner.

The Interstellar actor told the officers that they might know Lopez and asked if they had seen the 2001 romantic comedy.

He then told them that he was the actor who starred in the movie.

The officers, however, then recognised him and suddenly became more interested in meeting him than questioning him.

He went on to add that they even asked to take photos with him before allowing him to leave.

“Wedding Planner got me out of a major, major mess up in Mexico one time,” he recalled.

The story gives The Wedding Planner an unexpected place in McConaughey’s life. The movie became one of his better-known romantic comedies.

Matthew also revealed that he was once offered the role of Joel in The Last of Us, which later went to Pedro Pascal.
