Jennifer Aniston 'roots' for Brad Pitt amid his sobriety change
Brad Pitt has apparently turned the page on one chapter of his sobriety journey — and Jennifer Aniston isn't judging him for it.
After seven years without alcohol, Pitt revealed to Esquire that he has started drinking again, saying he now approaches it with considerably more restraint.
The admission has inevitably sparked interest, particularly given his history with Aniston.
But according to a source, his former wife isn't sitting around keeping score.
“Jennifer will always root for Brad,” a source told Rob Shutter. “If Brad wants to sit down with friends, have a glass of wine and enjoy himself, she thinks he should be able to do that.”
The pair divorced in 2005, but whatever awkwardness once surrounded their split appears to be firmly in the rearview mirror.
“Jen would happily have a drink with Brad,” the insider said. “There is no drama there. She wants him to be happy.”
Pitt's personal choices have long attracted intense scrutiny, particularly following his highly publicised marriage to Angelina Jolie and their subsequent legal battles.
“What happened with Jen was painful, but Brad has been through years of public battles since then,” said the source.
“People close to him believe he deserves the chance to move forward without everyone judging every decision he makes.”
And perhaps that's exactly why Pitt chose to discuss the subject himself.
“He would rather tell his own story than be photographed having a glass of wine with friends and let everyone else tell it for him,” the source added.
For now, the message seems simple: Pitt is making his own choices, Aniston reportedly isn't keeping score, and Hollywood can probably stop reaching for the old divorce scrapbook.
After all, sometimes moving on really does mean moving on.
