Anthony Hopkins finally fulfills childhood dream at 88
Sir Anthony Hopkins has landed a gig in music, but he admits it was his dream since childhood.
The 88-year-old legendary actor, known for his chilling role as Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs, revealed in a recent interview that he has always dreamed of becoming a musician.
As the two-time Academy Awards winner is all set to release his album, Life Is a Dream, told ITV News, "Living the life of total non-expectation, that's when the surprises happen. If you expect too much, nothing really happens."
His new album consists of orchestral works written across more than six decade, Anthony confessed that it's "beyond [his] belief" he is finally releasing his first album this late in life.
"I mean, I can't understand it at all. Well, that sounds a bit naive, but music has always been a part of my life from a very early age and I won't go into a lot of details," Anthony explained.
"But ever since I was a boy and then I didn't know what to do when I left school so I didn't have a chance of going to music college."
He recalled, "So I went to the acting college, which was attached to the music college in Wales and I thought, well, I'll do it that way I get into music. But I became an actor instead."
Since landing his own music career, Anthony admitted he is reminiscing about his younger years.
He added, "I think as you get older, you do go around examining life more. This did make me think about my past and my parents and about all the sweet sadness of it all."
Sir Anthony further reflected that with age he has become more grateful and finds enjoyment in different things.
"I enjoy it all more. I have a laugh now; I like watching old guys on TV, like Sinatra. And they've all gone too, and there's a great victory in recognising death and mortality while I'm here."
