Trump says Iran agrees to give up nuclear weapons

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Iran has agreed to give up on its nuclear weapon ambitions.

As reported by Reuters, Trump revealed these claims related to Iran on a podcast interview with Pod Force One with Miranda Devine.

Speaking about Iran, the President said, “They've already agreed they're ‌not going to have a nuclear weapon.” He even claimed that Iran’s Supreme leader Ayatollah, killed in the US-Israel strikes in March, was also involved in negotiations with America.

“Now they can change their mind but that was one of the things they had to agree on. That was the big thing.”

Trump also claims that his administration has achieved a "big success" in Iran, asserting that they have "essentially defeated the military" using air power without the need for ground troops.

“We will see what happens now. We are working on a deal and if it happens it’s fine and if it does not happen it’s okay. We will do the other way,” he added.

According to Trump, agreeing to not have nuclear weapons is the most critical condition necessary for regional security.

Both the US and Iran have been locked in months-long conflict with no peace deal on the horizon. The officials from both sides have been working on agreement, but no tangible breakthrough besides the ceasefire has been achieved yet.
