Mario Adorf's wife Monique Faye issues statement after husband's passing
Monique Faye disclosed her late husband Mario Adorf’s health condition during the days leading up to his passing.
The veteran German-Italian actor died at the age of 95 in Paris on Wednesday, April 8.
His manager, Michael Stark, along with representatives of the Reinholz film agency, confirmed the news, according to Der Spiegel and reports by dpa.
Speaking about his final days, his widow revealed that the acclaimed actor had “recently fallen ill.”
Reports, including from Yahoo News UK, noted that Adorf passed away following a short illness.
For the unversed, Faye was Adorf’s second wife. The couple married in 1985 and shared a life together in Paris and southern France.
They often make appearances side by side at public events such as the German Film Ball. She remained a constant presence and partner throughout his later years.
Notably, Adorf was widely regarded as one of the great character actors of European cinema.
In Germany, he remained a leading film and television star for decades.
Over a career spanning nearly seven decades, the late icon appeared in more than 200 film and television productions, taking on both leading and supporting roles.
His work ranged from spaghetti westerns to acclaimed films like The Tin Drum, which won an Academy Award.
